Update Frequency: Annual
Footnotes: Prior to 2019, data refer to those admitted to the Drug Rehabilitation Centre (DRC) for treatment among opioid and Amphetamine-Type Stimulants (ATS) abusers who were liable for imprisonment. The legislation was amended in 2019 regarding how repeat drug abusers are managed under the rehabilitation-focused approach. Repeat drug abusers who do not face other concurrent drug or criminal charges and who admit to their drug abuse would be channelled towards the rehabilitation regime instead of being charged for their drug consumption offence. Data from 2019 onwards refer to those admitted to the DRC for treatment among all opioid and ATS abusers. Apart from DRC, there are also other treatment interventions available for drug abusers arrested in Singapore. Data are used for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Indicator 3.5.1 'Coverage of treatment interventions (pharmacological, psychosocial and rehabilitation and aftercare services) for substance use disorders'. Opioid refers to heroin as this is the only opioid abused in Singapore.
