Footnotes: Data refer to the percentage of final consumption of energy that is derived from renewable resources. Renewable energy consumption includes consumption of energy derived from: hydro, solid biofuels, wind, solar, liquid biofuels, biogas, geothermal, marine and waste. Total final energy consumption includes those consumed for non-energy use, and is calculated from national balances and statistics. Renewable energy consumption is derived from multiplying the share of renewables in electricity output table (i.e. fuel mix, based on output method) by final consumption of electricity. This is based on the United Nations Statistics Division's (UNSD's) recommended methodology to compute the indicator. Data are used for SDG 7.2.1 'Renewable energy share in the total final energy consumption'. Please refer to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Global Metadata (https://unstats.un.org/sdgs/metadata) for more information on SDG 7.2.1.
