Footnotes: The low cinema attendance numbers in 2020, 2021 and 2022 were attributed to mandatory closure of cinemas from 27 March to 12 July 2020 (which coincided with the nationwide circuit breaker in Singapore from 7 April to 1 June 2020) and Safe Management Measures (SMM) imposed on cinema operators during the COVID-19 pandemic period. After cinemas reopened on 13 July 2020, they were subject to prevailing capability guidelines (https://www.imda.gov.sg/news-and-events/media-room/media-releases/2020/advisories-on-covid-19-situation) of each post-circuit breaker phase. The SMM on cinema capacity were lifted on 29 August 2022 and there was a gradual increase in cinema attendance in 2023.
